Pioneer Day Run/Walk
 
 
Where: Mingo Creek County Park (directions)  Washington, PA. Race and activities will be at pavilion 6 (a map of Mingo Creek County park is available here). Latitude and longitude of course is approximately (40.20169228, -80.02063618). An approximate schematic of the race course and driving directions to the pavilion are available here.
 
Why: To Commemorate the anniversary of the Mormon pioneers arriving in the Great Salt Lake Valley, and to benefit modern day emigrants living in Pittsburgh through donating proceeds from the race to the Birmingham Free Clinic. Get a copy of our pledge form here. Each competitor will be given the name of a pioneer who traveled the Mormon trail. If you are interested in submitting a name of a pioneer to include in this activity, please submit the information here.
 
What: 5k Run and 2k Walk. No registration fee is required but we encourage you to collect pledges or make freewill donations. We are encouraging broad participation among our church members, our friends and neighbors, and those of you just interested in a good workout. You must pre-register by July 8, 2008 to be eligible for a t-shirt. (A minimum of $15 donation for each t-shirt.)
 
In addition to the race, kids activities will be provided during the race for children three years and older. A pot luck dinner will finish off the evening. In order to help plan for these events we ask you that you please pre-register.
 
When: Friday August 1, 2008 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Run starts at 6:30 p.m. Walk begins at 7:00 p.m.
